Ask what the result record holds, and who signs it
Every LIS keeps a result against a sample; the question is whether it keeps who reviewed it, when, against which QC batch, and whether a reworked result keeps its history. Ask to see one result's record on one screen. The review sheet shows how many such records a week the company's system would have to carry for your bench.
Ask what it costs to run, not to buy
The license is the smaller number. Ask for the implementation, the interface fees per instrument, the annual support and the cost of adding a user, and put them against the review hours the system would save. Ask what happens when you leave

Can a small lab skip the company and use the sheets?
